Blackthorne: Modern Room Addition

This is a typical 1940's home transformed into a modern space. The home was doubled in size with a two story addition of 1000 square feet and a pool and spa. A series of differently pitched roofs and angled walls define the addition.  The balcony is oriented east/west to provide the best view of the sunrise and sunset. The balcony's protrusion reaches toward  the pool and appears to be floating over the bathroom below.  The large and tiny windows throughout the home allow different levels of light and shade framing each space in its own unique way.  Located in Lakewood Village, Long Beach, CA.
